When you want your suspension to move freely instead of binding up, this 2-1/4" long shackle strap gets the job done. It connects a double-eye spring to the rear hanger or equalizer so your suspension can flex the way it’s meant to. That pivoting action keeps the load distributed evenly between axles and makes for a smoother, more stable tow.
A thin strap can twist or wear fast, but at 3/16" thick and 1-1/4" wide, this shackle link is made to hold firm under stress. The 9/16" bolt holes are precisely sized for proper hardware fit, keeping the connection tight so the springs and hangers work together without slop. It’s a strong link that won’t let your suspension down.
Getting the right length keeps your spring angles where they should be and prevents binding or over-extension. With its 3-1/2" overall length and 2-1/4" center-to-center spacing, this strap maintains correct geometry across single or multi-axle setups. That means the springs stay level, movement stays smooth, and ride quality stays consistent.
If your old shackles are rusted or stretched out, swapping in new ones like this restores proper suspension motion. It’s a straightforward part that makes a big difference — bringing back the right travel and cut-down bounce you expect from a well-tuned trailer suspension.

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, I'm gonna take a look at this 2 1/4-inch long shackle strap. Now this shackle strap will connect your double-eye spring to the rear hangar of your single axle trailer or to the A equalizer of a multi axle trailer. Basically using this, it'll shackle the two components together, instead of bolting them directly. It allows for the necessary pivot of the springs. This is a steel construction.
Few specs on this. Now, the length, when we say it's a 2 1/4-inch. It's not the overall length. When they talk about the length on a shackle strap, it's the measurement from the center of this hole to the center of this hole. So if we take our ruler and if we go center to center, you can see there's your 2 1/4-inch measurement.
Now, the overall dimension from one end to the other, 3 1/4 inches long, width on it, 1 1/4 inches wide, and 3/16 of an inch thick. And the two bolt holes on here, the diameter of those bolt holes are 9/16 of an inch. But that should do it for the review on the 2 1/4-inch long shackle strap.

Very impressed with the quality of your products that I purchased from etrailer.Your knowledge of the products and expertise was greatly appreciated. Thanks again!
Exact fit. Great quality. Excellent customer service!
etrailer is always my first choice for new or replacement parts.
Received exactly what I ordered and fast too. I have ordered from etrailer before and spent some time searching for best price on these shackle straps. Save yourself some time and just use etrailer, they're the best. I would definitely recommend them.
So far no problems everything is great used them in conjunction with my EQUA-FLEX installation. All is good
My order came quickly, wish the work went that way. No, with a couple of jacks and a can of WD-40 bolts came out and all it well.
etrailer came though. looking for a older part and camp.... couldn't help. Will order again (with some easier work) this time.
Thanks
The shackle straps are a bit thinner than those they replaced but are working fine one year later.
Just needed a few shackle straps and found them here. Price was great, shipping charge fair, delivered by the weekend. Couldn't be more pleased.
Straps are thinner than the originals. Seems to be a common complaint I overlooked before ordering. I will be concerned about premature wear and looser suspension until I get these replaced with better quality parts. Hopefully the wet bolt kits will lessen the wear.
First time ordering from this company information on website is very useful tracking number email was awesome being able to look on the map and see exactly where my order was at will be ordering from this company for years on in now
So glad we found greasable bushings, bolts and nuts to replace plastic setup on our 5th wheel while traveling. If you have Forest River you need to replace with greasable. Repair shops just do plastic if you don't know better and send you on your way!! Awesome staff and quick shipping Quality parts
Just received the shackle straps and bolt. They look excellent and superior as the originals were only 1/2 " dia. and strap holes elongated by 1/4 ". One was worn thru. Also, straps are at least 1/32 thicker than originals.
You phone person that took the order did an excellent job and very patient. First trailer suspension I have overhauled so some difficulty in describing what I even needed.
Should be back on the road in a day or so. tks bob
Bought 4 leaf springs, bolts, bushings, etc... Needed it next day, and the shipping cost more than the parts, which tells me the parts were a great price. All was well, on time, and to order. The only problem was I should have ordered two more shackle bolts... but that's on me. Thanks Guys and Gals. I am a happy 62 year old Marine Vet back on the road!
Good product but the description is a bit confusing. The shackle is actually 3 1/2" long and the bolt holes are on 2 1/4' centers. Dexter calls this a 3 1/2" long shackle; eTrailer calls it a 2 1/4 long shackle. The diagram clears up the confusion, but it would be helpful to the uninitiated (myself) if the method of measuring was the same.
The products I ordered are exactly as described, and finding what I was looking for was very easy. The ordering process is also very easy, and shipping was much faster than I expected. In fact, the folks at etrailer went out of their way to make that happen. The prices here are more than fair as well. The folks here go out of their way to help with accessories and product information to help insure you get the right parts for the task at hand.
Customer service is second to none here, and it is indeed very refreshing to see a company who "genuinely" cares about their customers satisfaction as the folks at etrailer do!
I will try to come back and submit photos once I complete the repairs.
Erika was super helpful. Really helped me get the correct parts the first time. I will always use etrailer from now on!!
A+++ in my book!

Everything has worked great! Thanks for great parts, prices
After suffering a major incident on the highway where 3 of the 4 tires were destroyed along with the rims and some suspension parts, I needed parts fast and correct for my trailer. These wheels, along with the other suspension parts, where inexpensive, well built, accurately described, delivered quickly, and exactly what I needed to get my trailer back up and in operating condition again.
I ordered several items for my boat trailer to replace the springs and renew the related hardware. There was a little glitch, as the springs were sold out in inventory. The etrailer staff quickly advised me of this issue and offered alternatives. However, my order was shipped was shipped within a few days and arrived as ordered. I will definitely use etrailer again.
replaced the suspension on my 5th wheel--all went well and now I am much releived to lub with a grease gun and not a oil can. one of the wet bolts was defective--I called you sent one out quickly--thanks
Had a leaf spring break on my off-road trailer in Mexico. Left it at a boat yard until I received the parts from trailer & returned to replace. Only took 2 hrs to replace both leafsprinhs, shackles, bolts etc. And we were back on the road.
Pat from etrailer helped me enormously with this purchase. Most of the 2 1/4 inch shackle plates I found for sale were 1/8 inch thick, but on my triple axle trailer the originals are 3/16 inch thick. I know it's not much, but I couldn't imagine going to a smaller (even slightly) shackle plate given that I was shopping for new ones after two of them broke! Anyway, Pat called the manufacturer the following morning when they opened, then called me to confirm they were the right thickness. What great customer service! The plates arrived quickly, and fit perfectly. My camper was stranded in front of my suburban home for fear the suspension would collapse if I towed it to be repaired. Finding the exact replacement parts allowed me to repair the camper myself and tow it back to storage before the neighbors got too upset. The plates were in good shape when they arrived, and the holes had a slight bevel to accept the ribbed shoulder of my replacement bolts. I expect many years of service out of these new shackle plates.
A perfect match for the replacement shackle strap.

I used the Camper in the Summer during the Holidays , No problems Every Thing is still Working Fine
I received my first order of shackle straps and the envelope was taped up with no straps. I emailed etrailer and within minutes I had new ones on the way. No questions asked. Very impressed with the fast delivery of new ones. That's what I call a great business. Thanks a lot. U guys are really a 5 star outfit.
